Footlights is the leading dancewear boutique serving dancers, actors and performers throughout northeast and central Kansas, and beyond. We carry a full line of quality dance shoes and attire, with a focus on jazz, ballet and tap genres. We strive to consistently carry dance staples as well as provide an ever-changing stock of dance attire that is stylish, functional, affordable and designed to let the dancer or performer’s personality shine.

Bios

Over many long car rides to and from dance competitions, Lisa and Allison kicked around the idea of having a store where dancers would feel comfortable and welcome; a place that could provide footwear and dancewear for dancers of all ages and genres.

An opportunity presented itself to purchase Footlights, which had been a staple in the Northeast Kansas dance community for thirty five years. Lisa and Allison are thrilled to carry the Footlights legacy into a new decade and honored to support our dance community.

History

Footlights was a family owned business that began in 1984. The store was known for its Pointe shoe fitting expertise and knowledge. The store has changed locations several times, but never lost its reputation of being the premier choice for quality dance shoes or apparel. The store was sold outside of the family in 2019, and the new owners are excited to carry on the Footlights Tradition for a new generation of dancers, including the children of dancers that grew up going to Footlights themselves.
